“Washoku” 2 days short-program
Japanese traditional cuisine “washoku” represent an important part of Japanese culture. Its transmitted from genereration and follows the seasons and the differents local supplies of food. For these reasons, Washoku was added to Unesco’s List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2013.
To better understand Japanese culture and explore the colorful world of Washoku, we propose a two (2) days program in Kyoto to expand your knowleadge on this culinary culture.
Washoku Culture program is based around 4 elements:
- Traditional Ingredients and seasonality.
You will be introduced to “Kyo-yasai”, local vegetables of the region of Kyoto.
- Artisanal seasonings
You will learn on the sense of taste “Umami” of Soy sauce (Shoyu) and also rice vinegar.
- Traditional cusine cooking Class
You will try various cooking techniques and be able to taste your self-made “Washoku”.
- Japanese spirit of hospitality: Ometenashi
We will discuss about Japanese cultural customs around meal and their importance in the relation between people and between people and food.
